Hello Again

Hey everyone! I am still alive and kicking, but I have been busy with school and slightly under the weather with a cold that has been passed around our small campus. With school work increasing, it has been harder to find time to post blog entries in quick succession as I have in the past, but I will continue to post when I can!

As I said in my last post, we climbed Croagh Patrick last Saturday which was a challenging and fun adventure. The path was rocky and steep in some parts and as we ascended, we encountered clouds, mist, and wind, plus more rocks and steep climbs. Despite the obstacles faced, the majority of our group made it to the top of the mountain, 3 of the guys even did it barefoot! I made it up in just over an hour, which I thought was pretty impressive... By the time I had made it to the top I was completely soaked with a mix of sweat and misty rain from the clouds, but I made it despite my condition at the end! Woo!
The path down was a bit more treacherous due to the fact that we had to find individual footings and rocks that were set in the ground so we didn't end up falling all the way down. The hike down took a bit longer but we all ended up just fine and back in the sun, dry and warm when we reached the bottom. All around it was a great morning, I felt very accomplished for having climbed a mountain at 9 in the morning! This is me at the top:

We returned to the PLH late Saturday afternoon and had a nice relaxing evening. Sunday I woke up with a cold which spread through our group within the week. Sunday I also got to spend some time with Eric and Anna again which was great! It was sooo nice to see someone familiar from home. We went on a little drive, stopped and had some coffee in Spiddal and then I did some homework and they went and explored a little more. Later we had them out for dinner with myself and our 4 cottage mates. Pat cooked up a delicious tuna casserole, I made a salad, and we had some garlic bread too. It was a great home cooked meal and it was fun to have Eric and Anna around to talk to, spend some time with, and bitch a little bit about some things we have been having problems with. It was very good to see family members and have some fun with them too.

This week was pretty mild, I got a lot of sleep in an effort to get healthy again and for the most part it is working. We had the most homework yet this week but overall this week was very relaxing. This weekend we are off to The Ring of Kerry in the South West of Ireland. We have been kind of uninformed about what we are doing this weekend so we are rather skeptical of the goings on. We arrived in the town, I mean the village, I mean the few houses called Portmagee today and were surprised by the quaintness of it all. Tomorrow we have a photography class of sorts with a FREEish lunch. I am rather excited to ask questions of some professional photographers but I, as everyone is, am kind of wondering what we are actually doing here as this village consists of pretty much nothing. I think there is kind of some dissent in the ranks due to not knowing what is going on sometimes but overall I think things are going well!

It is dinner time so I have to get a move on, but I promise I will update this blog more often, as much as I can! Hope all is well at home and go Twins!
Matt
